In August 2023, Wix announced the release of Wix Studio as "the Ultimate Web Creation Platform". I tend to agree, and would recommend Wix Studio if you're planning to create a new website. The easiest way to start a new website is with a template, but due to the newness of Wix Studio, not a lot of templates are available yet so one of the existing templates will need to be re-written for a rental website.
If you're unable to find a template that you like, or are not interested in converting one to suit your purpose, then you can try searching through the templates available for the original Wix platform. Under Business & Services, you can find Hotels & B&Bs if interested in creating that type of rental website. These templates generally use Wix Hotels for completing the booking process.
If you are looking to create a hotel style website, but find Wix Hotels doesn't meet your needs, then you could use the Booking Calendar instead. With a hotel, an availability calendar for each room is usually not shown, so instead of using the UI widget that comes with the Booking Calendar you could use the API instead. This would require writing some code, which I'll explain how to do in a future post, but then you could use the UI provided by the hotel template or create a custom UI that does exactly what you want.
To view additional rental templates, type "rental" in the search bar and select "Rental Shop". The party rental company template shown, rents bounce houses for children's parties. This template uses Wix Bookings for completing the booking process, which works well for booking by the hour, but not so well for bookings of multiple days.
The RV rental company template is similar to the bounce house template except that rentals are booked on a nighty basis which Wix Bookings is unable to do and Wix Hotels is only setup for room booking currently. This template is the perfect candidate for using the Booking Calendar with its UI widget and CMS database.
