Adding the Booking Calendar

Updated: Jan 21

This is the fourth post related to the creation of an RV rental website. Prior to adding the Booking Calendar, we can update our dynamic list page to better match the template by copy and pasting sections from the template onto the dynamic list page. Once copied, the gallery section can be connected to the CMS the same as we did before. The final step is to drag the dynamic list icon from the old dynamic list section to the new one, then the old dynamic list section can be deleted.

Next, we switch to the dynamic item page. First, we create room on the page for placing the Booking Calendar, then we go to the CMS and add a field for the Item ID and assign a unique number for each rental item. Now we're ready to add the Booking Calendar to the dynamic item page. Select Add Apps -> App Market and search for "calendar". Select the Booking Calendar and follow the instructions to install it. Once installed, drag the Calendar widget and place it on the dynamic item page.

By default you get the Basic Calendar, so we will need to upgrade it to the Booking Calendar. Select the Calendar widget and click the Upgrade Now icon that appears and complete the payment for the upgrade. Switch away from and back to the dynamic item page for it to refresh and update the display to the Booking Calendar.

First, we need to connect the Booking Calendar to the CMS. This is done by selecting the text box containing the number 1 that's to the right of the month and year, then click the "Connect to CMS" button and set the "Text connects to" field to "Item ID (Number)".

If desired, the background color of the Calendar can be changed to match the page color. To do this, select the Calendar and click Design -> Customize Design -> Widget Background -> Fill color & opacity. Next to 100% on the right, click the color selection box and change the color to match the page color.

The Booking Calendar is now ready to be configured and used as described in the apartment booking series of posts. Try it out yourself at the RV Rentals website.
